Let us acknowledge that every woman is different and how we experience our menstrual cycle can give rise to genuinely unique events.

A healthy menstrual cycle length is anything between 21-35 days, where we bleed on an average for 2-7 days. Our menstrual cycle consists of four phases: Menstruation, follicular, ovulation and luteal. Is it vital for us to know where we are in our period? Well, I will leave that up to you. However, an intimate understanding such as tracking your cervical fluid, basal body temperature (BBT) and day of your cycle can assist us in taking advantage of our energy levels, rest when our bodies are asking for it and plan or avoid pregnancy. Most importantly, it can make you feel like the superwoman you are!

During our cycle, we can experience things like mood swings, cramps, cravings, bloating, but not limiting to this and all due to this lovely cocktail in our bodies called hormones. Sometimes these symptoms can make us feel that our menstrual cycle is a curse. I admittedly have thought so. And I can reassure you that it doesn’t have to be this way. It is possible to love your cycle and embrace the power of your womanhood. All you need to do is to do is to take action and decide on the best practices that will support you.

Having a healthy menstrual can really be that simple. All you need to is take responsibility for your health. How we feel emotionally, what we eat, and how active we are can significantly impact our cycle. Its best practice to have a holistic approach to improving our womanhood. And the best part about this is that you have the power to decide on what your body experiences. Giving your body the right nutrients, rest, exercise (the right intensity of exercise relative to your cycle), and exposure to nature can help you live your best life.

Yoga is one of many practices that can assist us in maintaining a healthy menstrual cycle. It can increase blood flow to the uterus, reduce stress hormones that lead to irregular cycles, manage period pain and help detoxify the blood.

When we listen, when we observe and when we honour. This is where the magic happens
